Much love to all of my wonderful readers and loyal fans!
Today I am in Augusta, preparing to iron my clothes and head off to my last official reading/signing for Resurrecting Midnight.
First, I want to thank everyone who has shown up on the Resurrecting Midnight Book tour, and the same love to those who have picked up copies since it dropped almost a month ago.
But this isn't about me or my work.
This is about a man who reached to many authors and, in a time when we weren't being sent on tour, reached into his own pocket and made it possible for a lot of us to get where we are today.
This e-mail is about my friend and fraternity brother E. Lynn Harris.
We lost E. Lynn Harris not that long ago. It sent a shock through the African American community, but his legacy shall continue to live on.
Please join us in celebrating the posthumous release of his latest novel, Mama Dearest, which demonstrates and celebrates E. Lynn Harris at his best. If you are unable to attend one (or more) of the events, please go online and order his latest, or walk into your favorite bookstore and pick up a copy.
E. Lynn Harris opened his heart to the world and loved us all.
Pretty much every AA author has a positive E. Lynn Harris story. As do many, many readers. And he made sure he appeared at many independent stores, did his best to keep the AA stores in business, tried to help everyone keep their lights on.
In appreciation of what he gave, in appreciation of a selfless individual, let's give back.
In honor of his legacy, let's all all come together, join together in the spirit of selflessness, and reciprocate on the release day of his final novel.
When we come together, anything is possible.
Let's do our best to make him number one on the NYT Bestseller list.
Let's start a stampede that will send an earthquake through the industry.
In honor of another part of our culture that has made that transition, and in the words of MJ, gone too soon.
May peace and love move from you and spread to all you touch.
